Application:

Vidarabine (CAS: 5536-17-4), is an antiviral drug which is active against herpes simplex and varicella zoster viruses. Vidarabine (CAS: 5536-17-4) is a neurotransmitter that acts as the preferred endogenous agonist at all adenosine receptor subtypes. Vidarabine (CAS: 5536-17-4) is an inhibitor of A cyclase and DNA Polymerase. Adenine 9-beta-D-arabinofuranoside (ara-A) is a synthetically produced purine nucleoside that is used in cell signaling research. It has commonly been used in anti-viral research with hepadnaviridae and herpes simplex viruses. The nucleoside ara-A interferes with viral DNA synthesis, but only in its active phosphorylated form.  Vidarabine (CAS: 5536-17-4) is a nucleoside antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces antibioticus. It has some antineoplastic properties and has broad spectrum activity against DNA viruses in cell cultures and significant antiviral activity against infections caused by a variety of viruses such as the herpes viruses, the VACCINIA VIRUS and varicella zoster virus. Vidarabine (CAS: 5536-17-4) is capable of inhibiting acyclovir-resistant/TK-deficient mutants of HSV and VZV, because it is phosphorylated to its active vidarabine–triphosphate form by cellular kinases and is not dependent for its activation on the viral TK.
