(R)-3-Amino-3-Phenylpropionic Acid (CAS: 13921-90-9) is used in the synthesis of dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors based upon β-homophenylalanine. Also used in the synthesis of endomorphin-1 analogues which contain β-amino acids. These analogues are believed to be the most potent endogenous ligand of μ-opiod receptors.
