N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan (Ac-Trp-OH) (CAS: 1218-34-4) is a N-acetyl-L-amino acid that is the N-acetyl derivative of L-Tryptophan. 1. N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan is widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical and biological industries. 2. N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan has been used as a protein stabolizer. It prevents protein molecules from oxidative degradation by scavenging oxygen dissolved in protein solutions. 3. N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan is also used as a competitive inhibitor to identify, differentiate and characterized tryptophanase(s). 4. N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan is a brain supplement that has quickly grown in popularity. 5. N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan, is a derivative of L-Tryptophan, that can be used as competitive inhibitor to identify and characterize tryptophanases. It can also be used as an NK1 tachykinin receptor antagonist, that may help to develop a novel therapeutic intervention for the treatment of reperfusion injury in acute ischemic stroke. 6.
