It is a cardioprotective drug that is clinically used to prevent cardiotoxicity caused by anthracycline antitumor drugs and heart damage caused by chemotherapy in children with leukemia. It is often used as an adjuvant drug in cancer treatment. This diamine has been used to synthesize chiral imidazoline compounds.
